Really long weekend

Most people find the weekends to be a time of rest & recuperation. For me, not so much. At least not last weekend.

It started Thursday night when I couldn't sleep at all because my back hurt. I hadn't done anything to make it hurt, but I chalked it up to sitting in the same chair for too long. When I say I couldn't sleep, I really mean it. By 5 am I finally was able to get a couple of hours of sleep, but even that was pretty restless.

This kept happening every night, all weekend. My back would bother me a little during the day, but as soon as I tried to relax and go to sleep, it was excruciating. One night it got so bad, Will woke up and wondered if I was having a cyst burst (I've had one for about 4 months now, that didn't want to go away. For those who don't know I have PCOS.) But that pain is totally different.

I didn't want to go to the doctor, because I had an appointment to check the cyst on Monday, so I figured it could wait until then. Well, my appointment was great, and the original cyst is gone (Yipee!), but I have another one (BOOO!). After the appointment, since we knew it wasn't a problem with my cyst, we called my regular doctor, who had no appointments until Tuesday. I couldn't really wait, and have another night of no sleep. I already looked like a zombie, and I was running a fever of over 100 by this time. So I went to the urgent care. They made me pee in a cup (I HATE doing that! Will says, it's so easy, but his plumbing is external. It's a lot harder & messier for girls.), and ran some tests, and it turns out I have a raging kidney infection.

The doctor gave me a shot of antibiotics (why do those always have to be given in your butt?), and a prescription for oral antibiotics, and painkillers. Sadly, the painkillers (which normally make me super sleepy) have only been taking the edge off the pain. The doctor said today would be a lot better, and I guess it is better. I actually slept last night. I only woke up 3 times, which is better than not sleeping at all, I guess, but I was expecting some miracle relief today.

So basically this is a pity post. My mom always said not to have a pity party for myself, but today, I'm tired of hurting, and ready to be back to normal. Basically, I'm looking for sympathy. This is an invitation to my pity party. If you're coming, bring chips or pain meds.

WOW! That stinks. You need some narcotics. Call and complain. Although, the Abx should start working soon. Make sure to eat some yogurt to counteract the abx killing all your good flora and stay hydrated.

No fun for sure. Been there! I had a raging one right after Brad was born....still in the hospital..
Just one more thing to deal with. Drink gallons of water....AND eat lots of yogurt

I have lots of chips.
And lots of drugs.

Not bragging though.

Feel better!

Sadly, I was given some pretty strong narcotics, but still very little relief. My other complaint (since this has been a post of complaining) is that I had no symptoms until my back started hurting. The doctor said I should have had a UTI or a bladder infection first. Oh well. Thx for the advice on yogurt... I totally forgot, and I usually end up with a yeast infection if I don't eat yogurt while I'm taking antibiotics.
