Whew! (for now)

To say the least, the last few months since Will applied to med school have been stressful. It's always hurry up and wait. It started out with the MCATs almost a year and a half ago. Hurry and take them, and then wait for results. Then hurry and make sure you've got all your classes set, then wait to apply. Then hurry and do the primary application, then wait and see if any schools contact for secondaries. Then hurry and do the secondaries, then wait to see if anyone likes him enough to ask for an interview. We've been in this part of the hurry up and wait for a while now. He's done everything he has to, but no responses. Granted, there were holidays and everything, but it's stressful nonetheless.

But wait no more (at least for one school). Will got an email today from the University of Utah requesting an interview!!!!

This is good in so many ways.

1. He doesn't have to fly out for the interview, the campus is only an hour away.
2. I'll get to spend that day with my mom & dad since they're about 20 minutes from the campus.
3. We were worried if they'd even request an interview since this was one of the last secondary applications he did.
4. U of U is our top choice for schools. It's the reason we moved here 3 years ago, and hopefully he'll blow away the interviewers and get in.

Keep your fingers crossed!

P.S. Med school is the only time I will ever be this excited about the U of U. I'm such a BYU fan, but med school at the U gets an exception since BYU doesn't have one. :)

We'll know the exact day of the interview within a week. We had to submit for preferred days, and we'll get a call in the next 5 days or so with the confirmed date. We're trying for any Friday at the end of January or beginning of February, since Will only has class Monday through Thursday.

Woohoo! Way to go Will! You'll do great so long as you don't sing that "I will possess your heart" song in the creepy demon voice you do. ;) You can tell them you are happy to hold a heart in surgery, though! In all seriousness- good luck!

My brother in law went to the U for medical school after BYU undergrad and we even still speak to him. Even when he cheers for the U (he never does against BYU or we might never speak to him again!). Good luck with the interview!

Now that's the kind of news we like to hear! Knowing how important the interview is (from a Dr.friend who is on the interview committee at USC Med School) we know you have what it takes....
They are looking for the complete package....they assume the candidate is a top student so go wow them with your personality and good works.

That's so exciting! With a guy like Will, everything should go just fine.

I know, I know, that sounds odd coming from his antagonistic older brother, but honestly I know he'll do great

Congrats! And I agree with Nancy, under any other circumstances I would not be excited about U of U, but they do have the med school. Are you sure you don't want to be a lawyer instead? Then you could just stay at BYU. :)

Good luck!
