What was I thinking?

I am writing this post with great guilt and embarassment. I was doing a few random things last night at 11 pm, and I realized suddenly... it was my mom's birthday!!!! I can't call her at 11 pm... and to make it worse, I'd talked to her at least 3 times during the day! So I proceeded to send her an e-card, which doesn't make up for it at all, but at least she knows I was thinking about her.

So here's to you, Mom.

Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday, dear MOMMY!
Happy Birthday to you!

In other news, I'm preparing for a visit from my in-laws for Thanksgiving. Everyone in the following picture (except Shirley & Anabelle) will be coming to my house on Monday, and staying through Saturday. I'm so excited to see them, but I'm a little worried about what we will do.

We've talked about going to Heritage Park (This is the Place Monument), and possibly Hogle Zoo, but I'm not sure how long I'll last on my feet (I pinched my sciatic nerve over the weekend, and it's not feeling the best). If anyone has some good suggestions of things to do (inside or outside) I'd love to hear them.
By the way, my title refers to my inability to remember my Mom's birthday, not to having my in-laws come visit. Just had to clarify. That could totally be taken the wrong way.

Another cousin for Eva!

We have another new neice. This one is Lara. She was born to Will's brother, David, and his wife, Corrina.

And no... she's not 3 months old. She is newborn in this picture... She's just a big baby.

Here's the stats:
Name: Lara Kjerstine
Weight: 11 lbs. 15 oz. (yes, you are reading that correctly. She's currently the record holder for the biggest Hale baby - I'm not going to try and break that record either.)
Height: 22 in.
Birth date: November 11, 2008
Congrats Dave & Corrina! She's a beautiful baby.

Announcement!

The day is finally here! We had our 20 week ultrasound today, and the results are in... Before I tell you what it is... here are some random pics from today's appointment.

This is a creepy view of the baby's face... If you're having a hard time telling what you're seeing it looks kinda like a skull on it's side.
This is a view of the baby's arm... we're looking at the forearm. The two bright white lines are the radius and ulna.

The baby's footprint.

Here's the baby's profile... a much nicer view of it's face than the creepy skull picture.

And the picture we've all been waiting for... IT'S A GIRL!

Here's another view of the girly anatomy.
We could not be more excited about our new little addition. For those who are interested, we'll be naming her Eva (pronounced ay-vah), with Marie as a middle name. Will and I could not be more excited about our little girl. Thanks for all your love and support. If you have any tips on raising a girl... I'd love to hear them!

Again?!?

I got tagged by two people while I've been away. First by Kim, and then by my sister in law Katrina. Kim's tag was to include lists of 8 things about a few different topics. I started this on Friday of last week, but I was so tired, I didn't get it finished until today.

Here are my lists of 8 things...

8 TV shows that I love to watch:
1. Lost
2. Survivor
3. America’s Next Top Model
4. CSI
5. Fringe
6. Bones
7. House
8. Law & Order: SVU

8 favorite places to eat:
1. Red Robin
2. Burger King
3. Pita Pit
4. Thai Ruby
5. Olive Garden
6. Macaroni Grill (who doesn’t like to color on their table while they eat?)
7. My own dining room
8. Anywhere that sounds good

8 things I did yesterday: (it took me a couple of days to finish these lists, so this is really what I did on Thursday of last week)
1. Drove from my hotel to the benefit fair in Sunnyvale, CA
2. Peed (I could fill this list with a fraction of the number of times I peed)
3. Talked to my growing fetus
4. Flew to Phoenix
5. Convinced the gate attendants in Phoenix to upgrade me at no charge
6. Slept on the flight to Salt Lake despite the crazy 5 year old boy in the row in front of me
7. Ate at Denny’s at midnight on my way home
8. Gave Will giant hugs and kisses. I was only away one night, but boy did I miss him!

8 things I am looking forward to:
1. Finding out the gender of our baby (only 3 more days!)
2. Seeing my in-laws for Thanksgiving
3. Selling our house next year (not the process… the end result)
4. Will getting into Med School
5. Going to Med School
6. The scent of our baby
7. Labor/Delivery (I may be a glutton for pain)
8. The look on Will’s face when he holds our baby for the first time

8 things on my wish list:
1. Med school at University of Utah (not too far to move)
2. A new car (our Corolla is great, but it doesn’t have tons of space)
3. Babies for all my friends who struggle with infertility
4. Husbands (as wonderful as Will) for my sisters
5. Traveling with our kids someday
6. A medical practice for Will in a rural town
7. More time with Will
8. Sleep (I know this won’t happen for a while)

Katrina's tag said to find the 6th picture in the 6th folder of your pictures on your computer.

Here's what I found. This is a picture from last Easter when Will and I hid easter eggs for my neice Hannah. This is her finding the egg we hid in our really stained kiddie pool that the dog used. It was under a rock, and when she found it she said, "IN THE POOL????"

I'm supposed to tag people to do these as well, but I figure if you want to do them... great. If not, I understand.

My confession

I know it's taken forever for me to post the answers to my last post about 2 truths and a lie... but I'm just barely getting my computer back on line. I'm still fighting to find everything I had before (it's all there, I just have to find it), and I still can't get my work email up, but that should get fixed this week.

Anyway... here is my confession about what I have/have not done.

The lie is #2. I have been east of the Mississippi... a few times. I flew out of Atlanta last summer when we went to Costa Rica.

Here is the story behind #1 and #3.

#1... I think I have the best luck ever when it comes to cops and being pulled over. I got pulled over in my friend's car when I was in college, and her registration was more than 6 months overdue... I cried my way out of a ticket... not hard considering I'd just had surgery and was off my pain meds so I could go to the pharmacy for more. Then I was driving with a friend later, and was pulled over for honking at a cop (I didn't know it was a cop when I honked... it was really dark), but he didn't give me a ticket because he was headed to a giant accident half a mile up the road. My most recent encounter was in August. Will and I were driving to California, it was after 10 pm, and we were almost to Wendover... not long into the trip. I could swear I was going 75, but the cop said I was going 84. He asked where I was going, and I said California. When he found out I was driving through the night, he gave me back my license, said be careful, and let me go. I deserve to be caught at some time, but I'm okay with the way things are going so far. Oddly enough, I've witnessed from the passenger seat multiple tickets being given to whoever was driving my car (sorry Will and Robin).

#3... I do have photographic evidence of my swimming excursions... but I don't know where it's packed away. Here's what happened. My friend Char and I were living together one summer at BYU. It was really hot... like 90 at about 11 pm, and our apartment complex had no swimming pool. We didn't know anyone who had a pool, and Utah Lake is disgusting. So Char told me that the water in the fountains on campus was pretty cold, and we should go swimming. So we donned some old shorts and t-shirts and headed for the fountain in front of the administration building... also where the BYU police has it's headquarters. We jumped in and swam for a little while... took lots of pictures, and every time a car passed by, we got really nervous, and frequently we would run to the car (not like they couldn't find us by following the really wet trail that followed us). We never got caught that time... or any other time we went (there were multiple repeat performances). Oddly enough, I did find out through friends that the fine for getting caught swimming in the fountain is $300.

Now that my computer is working (kind of)... I can't post without a picture... so here is one from today. I'm 20 weeks along in my pregnancy now (HALFWAY!!), and my belly seems to be growing a little more.

I had a crazy week last week (that I will post about later), but I was glad to be able to see my brother Mark and his cute wife Ellie, as well as my nephew Griffin (Happy 4th Birthday!), and my beautiful niece Sylvie. I lucked out to get to see my uncle Sterling as well. It was a great time, but I'm still trying to catch up on sleep.
