Tag - You're it!

I just got tagged by my friend Mandy on her latest blog post. Oddly enough, I'd been thinking this morning about what I would say if I was playing 2 truths and a lie.

The rules...
1. Link to your tagger and list these rules on your blog.
2. Share 2 true facts about yourself and 1 lie.
3. Tag 4 people at the end of your post by including links to their blogs.
4. Have people guess which one out of the three is false.

Here's my 2 truths and a lie. Guess what you think is false... I'll confess what I have/have not done in a few days.

1. I've been pulled over at least 3 times, but I've never gotten a ticket.
2. I've never been east of the Mississippi.
3. I've gone swimming in the fountain in front of a police station.

I'm tagging the following people:

Shirley (I'd link you and Katrina, but since your blogs are private, it's kinda silly)
Katrina
Robin
Melissa

AARRGH!

I would include a picture with this post, but I've had a small problem. It's called, I'm stuck using a super old laptop right now (no photoshop, no work email, no nothing) because my hard drive on my desktop is dying. I brought it to a guy who's backed up all my info, but he can't get a new hard drive into it for 3 or 4 days (they had to order it). So until then, I am stuck and super frustrated.

Decision 2008

I'm challenging you all to vote this year... Really more like this week. Or next. Okay so you have about 20 days to cast your opinion. Not about the presidential election, I have my ultrasound on November 13th to find out the gender of our baby!

Make your voice heard! Tell me if you think it will be a boy or a girl. I know a bunch of you did already, but now I have a cool little polling thing on the left side of the page.

For those who put stock in the heartrate as a determining factor of the gender of the baby, here are the stats.

At 6 weeks the baby's heartbeat was 106 beats per minute.
At 7 weeks 159.
At 8 weeks 175.
At 13 weeks 160.
At 17 1/2 weeks 160.

For those who look to how nauseous you get during pregnancy, well... I never threw up, but I felt really sick until I was 14 weeks. I started feeling sick before I could get a positive on a home pregnancy test.

Ralph the Night Hairdresser

You know you've been visted by "Ralph the Night Hairdresser" when you wake up and see this in the mirror!

Oops, out of focus.

This one's only a little better. I couldn't seem to catch the volume in the back on either picture. Oh well. Thanks, Ralph!

Only because I've been asked

I've had a few requests for pictures of the baby belly. To be honest... I'm not thrilled about taking pictures of the baby belly. Not because I don't like it... it's kinda neat to see how much I'm changing, but because I'm not thin. Also, because I can't even pretend to try to be thin anymore, because there is no way to suck in the baby belly.

Although I've had lots of requests for pictures, I didn't even take any until yesterday. Mostly because that means turning directly to the side in the most unflattering position EVER! However, because I love you all, dear readers... even though I think you all might be crazy to want to see the baby belly... I have taken a picture!

I couldn't find a picture of me from anytime in the recent past where I was facing anywhere near directly to one side. Here's what I came up with.

That's me on the left at my sister Robin's graduation in April. That was about 3 months before I got preggo.

This is yesterday. The baby belly definitely sticks out more, but obviously I forgot to smile. I was trying to tell Will what to do with the camera, and then suddenly, CLICK! Oh well.

We see the doctor next Thursday, and hopefully I'll get some pictures of the baby. If we do, we'll probably get to find out the baby's gender! I'm looking for guesses. Boy or girl? If we don't find out next week... then the first week of November I'll be at 20 weeks, and we'll find out then. Yeah!

This is harder than I thought

I've already had a couple of questions about my previous registering post. Basically people have asked me, "What happened to your Target registry?" What happened is, I deleted it. I only have one registry now, at Babies R Us.

After I went to Babies R Us the first time, I realized that it would be easier to just register for everything at one place, rather than having to remember what I already registered for at the other place, and then keeping up with updating both. (Sorry for the run-on sentence.) Mostly that is because pregnancy makes me as dumb as a box of rocks.

I used to be able to keep up with conversations, the news, television shows, etc, but now all I can try and keep up on is sleep. Not only have I become stupid, but I've become an insomniac. Although not completely. Last night I slept from 2 am (getting to sleep is a completely different issue) until about 11 am this morning, only waking up about 2-3 times to pee/adjust/whatever. However, the night before was crazy. I think I may have slept about 2 hours straight, while the rest of the time was spent tossing and turning, getting up to use the potty, nearly shoving Will out of the bed, yelling at him (I was half asleep) to roll on his side so he'd keep breathing (we're seeing the doctor about sleep apnea next week), pulling up the covers, throwing off the covers, turning on the fan, turning off the fan, and generally getting super frustrated that I wasn't sleeping.

Anyway, I'm realizing I'm complaining, and I don't want anyone to think I'm not excited about this pregnancy. I'm thrilled to be pregnant, just not used to it yet. Any tips on not going completely crazy during this somewhat crazy time?

Another cousin!

Yesterday I got the happy news that my brother Mark & his wife Ellie had their sweet little girl, Sylvie (I don't know if that is finalized, or what a middle name would be).

She was born:

October 6, 2008
4:32 pm
5lbs 14oz, 18 inches

I stole a bunch of pictures from Paige & Lenore's blogs (Ellie's sisters... Thanks!) since they all live in California, and got to be there for the birth.

I like Mark's pink shirt, in honor of his daughter. :)

Sylvie was 5 weeks early, but look how much hair she has. Imagine what she would have looked like if she'd gone full term.
I hope I can look as good as Ellie right after labor. Granted, she only had to push for about 5 minutes.
What an adorable family! Now we need a picture with Fin holding his little sister, and it will be perfect!

Congrats to Mark & Ellie! We're glad she's finally here!

I was watching tv tonight, and I saw a great PSA called Hollywood Declares Themselves. I know I'm not alone in my worries about our country's path right now. Honestly, I'm still relatively undecided as to what I want, but I know that the most important thing I can do is vote.

Remember, there is a deadline for voter registration. If you're not registered, do it now. If you don't vote, you've given up your right to make your opinion known. There are so many people in so many countries who don't have the right to vote. We can't take this for granted.

I'm not big on making my blog political, but when it comes to voting, all I ask is that you actually do it.

Okay... so the HTML info to post the video didn't work, so if you'd like to see it, go to www.declareyourself.com and in the box labeled "the message" click on the picture with Leonardo DiCaprio. The video is kinda long, but it's well done.

I'm confused

This is a cry for help. Last night I went to Target to start a baby registry. I thought it would be just about as easy as doing a wedding registry (which I totally enjoyed). However, I was completely surprised when I was totally overwhelmed by everything in the store.

Since we don't know what the sex of the baby is yet, we're kinda stuck on deciding what we want (when it comes to stuff that is obviously for a boy or a girl). The harder thing is knowing if there really is a difference when it comes to car seats, strollers, cribs, etc.

So I've started my registry at Target with the basic theme for our baby's room (jungle/safari/wild animals), but I have no idea what I'm really going to need.

So before I start registering at Babies R US (which I found I needed after I realized Target has a very small selection), I need some advice.

What do I really need, and what are some essentials you won't go without? I'm totally lost, and I need help!!!
