Here are some reasons my dog is stupid.
- She chases a laser pointer like a cat. Except my dog weighs over 60 pounds, so it sounds like an elephant chasing a laser pointer.
- She thinks that any light that moves is a laser pointer. Hence, no flashlights, candles, reflections from mirrors, etc, unless you want Cupid to stare at the ceiling/wall/floor for the next 20 minutes waiting to "get" the light.
- My camera has a focusing light, so I can never get a good picture of my dog since she immediately goes into "pounce" mode when I try to snap a photo.
- Occasionally we think she is attempting to talk because she yawns & whines at the same time.
- If anyone says the word "outside" Cupid immediately jumps to her feet and runs so fast to the back door that we have nose marks there from the times she couldn't stop fast enough.
- She rolls around in the snow.
- She barks at nothing.
- She gets so distracted by things she runs into walls.
- She doesn't chew on her toys, she eats them.
- If I throw her ball into the area of the back yard where she does her business she actually tip-toes through the messes to get it out.
Despite how dumb my dog is, she is pretty cute (when she's not doing something disgusting). Here is video we made for Will's family of Cupid playing in the snow last winter. Enjoy my husband's narration... that may be the best part of the whole thing.
Overall, she's pretty much okay, but when we have kids the dog might have to find a new home.

This is Cupid right before she stood up to try and get the camera.

Dogs are wonderful when they belong to someone else. I really don't mean that cause I like dogs....just don't like what they do to the yard and house. Oh.... I don't like poop patrol either. Guess I won't be getting one anytime soon!
Cupid is cute.....glad she is yours!
She is so cute! You won't have to get rid of her when a baby comes along, our dog and baby are great friends. And, they are starting to play with each other which is SO cute!
I'm not really a fan of poop patrol either. If we get a dog, it will be when the kids are old enough to take care of it. That's why we have kids, right? :) Introduce the dog to lots of kids and see how she behaves. Maybe you can keep her and then the kids will have a "watchdog".
It doesn't work having kids take care of the poop. Kids are NEVER "old enough" to clean up after the dog. At that point they are tied up with a zillion activities. What actually happens is "mom" has to get after the kids....one more thing....then when it doesn't get done, she has to rush out and make sure it is gone so "dad" doesn't have a tizzy fit. HATED IT!
Hi Nancy, i have no idea why no one (ELLIE) told me you have a blog! And you are such a commenter! Anyway, your dog may seem stupid but she seems like a normal dog to me. Aren't all dogs stupid? Just wondering.
And your blog name is hilarious.
We've actually tried Cupid around kids. She does pretty well - but is best around "older" kids because she is so big. And - she likes to like faces. By "lick", I mean open and close her mouth while sticking her tongue in and out and LUNGING towards their face. :)
She is pretty good around Hannah, though.
Stupid Cupid is so cute!!!Dogs really are a little dumb, but they love you so much, how do you resist?

I will confirm that the laser pointer turns Stupid Cupid into a bounding bulldozer. It sounds really awesome directly over your bed at midnight. Love you! ;o)
